Microsep is pleased to announce that after a very successful seven month collaboration period, it has acquired the entire business of National Separations (Pty) Ltd (Natsep). Natsep is the local distributor of Albet, Amazon and Sartorius Stedim Bioprocess products in Southern Africa.
“This acquisition is seen as an important step aimed at maintaining Microsep’s prominent market position, after the unfortunate loss in January of the Millipore product distribution rights, caused by the world-wide acquisition of Millipore by Merck”, says Richard Jelley, Managing Director of Microsep.
The transaction, concluded on 01 August 2012, included all the Natsep intellectual property. The newly formed company will retain the Natsep name which is a well established brand in Southern Africa, having captured a large slice of the process filtration market over the last decade.
Microsep staff previously responsible for selling the Millipore product range will focus on the Sartorius water purification and other specific Sartorius laboratory products, but excluding the Sartorius weighing equipment and the Biohit pipette product range recently acquired by Sartorius.
All Natsep staff have been retained and will be primarily responsible for the growth of the bioprocess filtration, food and beverage, and industrial filtration business.
“Microsep is delighted to have had the opportunity to acquire Natsep and we look forward to a long and mutually beneficial association with all the existing and potential Natsep customers”, says Jelley.
